Ustrasana

The Camel Pose That Opens You Back Up

Ustrasana, or Camel Pose, is more than a backbend—it’s a courageous invitation to open your heart rather than armour it. In a world where we curl forward over screens and responsibilities, this pose gently pulls you upright, reminding your body and mind that you are built to rise, not shrink.

As you kneel and slowly arch backward, resting your hands on your heels, Ustrasana stretches the front of your body—chest, shoulders, abdomen, and hip flexors—releasing tension you didn’t even know you were carrying. This release often brings a surprising sense of lightness, as if a layer of heaviness has been lifted from your spine.

Beyond the physical, Ustrasana is an emotional practice. The exposed heart and open throat ask to let you breathe into discomfort instead of rushing away from it. With each breath, you learn to stay present, to trust your strength, and to soften.

Sirshasana

Turning Your World Upside Down to Find Clarity

Sirshasana, the Headstand, is often called the “king of all asanas”—not because it’s easy, but because it calls you to trust yourself at a whole new level.

When you balance on your head and forearms, gravity gently rearranges your perspective. Blood flows differently, your spine lengthens, and your brain calms as the nervous system begins to soften. The pose isn’t about showing off; it’s about showing up for yourself with patience, humility, and steady breath.

Over time, Sirshasana teaches you to stand steady even when your world feels upside down. Each time you come into the pose—and each time you come down—you’re reminded that growth isn’t always comfortable, but it’s always worth the courage to try.

In a simple, inverted moment on the mat, Sirshasana whispers a powerful truth: when you dare to see things from a new angle, you often find the clarity and strength you were searching for all along.

Virabhadrasana II

The Warrior Who Stands for You

Virabhadrasana II, or Warrior II, is more than a strong stance on the mat—it’s a powerful metaphor for how you choose to stand in your life. As you root one foot forward, bend that knee deeply, and stretch your arms open, you create a living symbol of courage, focus, and grounded presence.

The pose asks your legs to work hard while your chest stays open and your gaze reaches forward, steady and unshaken. In that balance of strength and softness, you’re reminded that real power isn’t tight or aggressive; it’s steady, kind, and clearly directed. Virabhadrasana II becomes a quiet practice of owning your space, your truth, and your boundaries without shrinking or overreaching.

Every time you come into Warrior II, you call on your inner strength—not to fight others, but to stay loyal to yourself. It’s a daily reminder that you can remain centred, even when life feels unstable or demanding. You don’t need to win a battle to be a warrior; you just need to show up, stay grounded, and stand tall in your own truth.
